Real Quezon and It’s Fire like Sunrise.

                    imageedit_1_7140074942

It’s back to school. Summer ends and the rainy season is starting. But who says you can’t go on a “vacation during this kind of weather”? I would like to share a place where you can still feel like summer , beach, falls, surf, skim and enjoy cheap seafood’s at its best!!! Good thing is , its not so far from manila and will not leave your pockets empty.

Just 3-4 hour drive from manila. Real, Quezon can also offer you a good weekend getaway. Real is a small town facing the Pacific Ocean. And yes!!! beaches here are also for surfing specially during  “Ber months” because the waves are bigger.  Real has many tourist spots, , Balagbag Falls, river scenery, and the beach itself and even before you reach the town your eyes will be amaze with the view of Laguna Lake and the scenic Sierra Madre Mountain Ranges. This is a perfect place to go even if its not summer anymore.

How to get there:

There are three ways of getting Real, Quezon.
First, from Shaw, Ortigas or pasig area, ride a jeepney going to Cainta junction.Just outside Big R, (Robinson Mall) left side of the over pass you will see a jeep going to Siniloan,Laguna (P83 Fare) Then another jeepney ride in going to Infanta, Quezon and you’ll just need to tell the driver to drop you at the basketball court going to Brgy. Malapad. Fare is P55.

Second option is to take the scenic Sta. Cruz, Laguna route. You can take a bus at Buendia and Cubao terminals. The travel time is around 2 hours. Then, from Sta. Cruz, take a jeepney going to Siniloan. From there, you can take a jeepney going to Infanta/Real, Quezon.

The third option and for me this is convenient because it will only be one ride to quezon not unlike the first two which is a cutting trip. Go to Legarda, Manila and take either Raymund bus (tel. 7339380) or a van going directly to Real, Quezon. The bus terminal is near Arellano University. Van fare is aroung php220 (2014 update).

Where to stay:

D’Aplaya Beach Cabins & Surf Camp.

They also have Cabins and Barracks for rent if you dont have tent (price below). Great thing about the place is you can buy cheap sea foods like “pusit” and they have local “kusinera”who can cook for you with the dish of your choice and its php50 per dish. I will never forget the time we visit this place we bought a big pusit for only php 160. During our stay we joke around saying its pusit festival because all we had there is pusit with different dishes.(grilled, Calamaris)  Ha Ha. And it’s something you can’t always do in manila because it’s expensive. My friends also try “lambanog” which cost them around 180 for 1 liter. They said it taste good but after that night they say they will not try it again. I assume you know why. Hang over!! Ha Ha.

Also you can also visit Balagbag Falls its only 15 minutes away from the surf camp, you can hire a tricycle for php 300 (back and forth) , that time we are 5 in the group so we pay 60 each for the tricycle. They have an entrance fee of php20 per head and if you would like to stay for long cottages are available for Php300.00.

Balagbag Falls

Only 10 minutes away from Balagbag the second falls that has a strongest flow of water and best spot to swim is  Nonok Falls.  Same as the Balagbag falls wherein you need to pay php20 for the entrance and also offer kubo. Here you can also do a cliff dive. (Me and my friends did not try it. Ha Ha).

Personally, I haven’t been here but my friends do and they say a lot about the place. The PaRK offers safe campgrounds with soft grass shaded by trees, ideal for camping or setting up hammocks. Pitching fee per tent if you’re bringing your own is php50 and they also offer tent rentals for php300 (2-3 persons). So if you haven’t tried camping during boy scout’s/ girl scout’s day, this is the best place to try it and it will be memorable.

Campsite is also equipped with a open cottages- Php 600.00 for small kubo and php900 for big ones. They also have cooking areas, a common C.R., shower areas and there’s also a store just few steps from the area. For day trip entrance for adult is php35 while for kids is php20. For overnight stay Php50 for adult and php40 for kids. They also have a beach house where you could rent the entire house or just the rooms. The beach house has a kitchen, they have utensils, a CR, a dining area, a porch – it’s a house literally.
Surfing is also one of the best thing to do here at The PaRK.

Surfboard rental is P200.00/hour or P500.00/half day. My friends do skim boarding too not sure if they offer skim boarding rentals. First time to surf? not a problem because they say waves at The PaRK are friendly for beginners like us. As an advice from the locals swimming alone is not advisable there are times that current is strong. Swimming with friends is strongly advised.
